Gessert`s Ice Cream and Confectionery in Elkhart Lake

Super duper ice cream and treat shop. This place is a throwback to a prior era. It feels like a movie set from the 50s or 60s. There are few places like this anymore in America. Oh, and the ice cream and fudge are great.

Love the old-time decor and atmosphere. Excellent variety of ice cream cones, sundaes, malts, etc. Be sure to check out the 'backroom' museum.😉

Happy to see the staff at Gesserts are wearing masks since the governor ordered them. I feel safer entering. In my opinion, staff should have been masked long before wearing them was a requirement.

Old school ice cream shop, packed on a Saturday night but waited less than 5min to be served. Quite a few flavor options, had a coffew flavored icw cream with caramel and chocolate covered espresso beans.

Not a single employee is wearing a mask at this place!! The ice cream is great and I love Gessert’s, but it’s not safe to eat here right now.

We love stopping here after the races at Road America. Feels very old time, looks very old time and the young employees that are always there are actually real nice. The ice cream in good and its always clean. My only complaint that keeps me from giving a 5 star is that it’s pricey. I think they can get away with it because its Elkhart lake but be ready to pay.

Historical Gem! Great service, nice and cool (in hot summer). A museum in back and a lot of the original store materials (wood/flooring/cases). Highly recommend if you're in town!!

This was a highlight of our Elkhart lake extended weekend. The old timey soda fountain was legit yummy. We also enjoyed watching them make fresh waffle cones, and of course making our cream sodas. The candy and fudge section looked amazing as well. Plenty of seating in the back, limited bar seating. They take credit. Don't miss this place, it's super yummy. Value for money is there, cream sodas are 2.45.

Good options and nice icecream place

Really good ice cream and fast service! There may look like a line but it moves pretty quickly. They offer more than just ice cream - large candy selection and fudge/chocolates.

Absolutely love this place! Great ice cream and candy selection with a fantastic atmosphere. Has a real "old time" soda fountain feel with music to match the era. Highly recommend bringing the whole family, a date, or just going by yourself :) If you like chocolate, go for the Zanzibar. Made me tear up a bit

A small, vintage-themed ice cream parlor and candy shop. Has traditional scoop ice cream, shakes, smoothies, and other stuff. Cake, sugar, or waffle for cone choices. Items are served in glassware if you choose to eat "for here." Feels a little small in the waiting area, but there are a decent amount of booths available for seating.

Fun, historic little ice cream and candy shop . There is seating in the back and a little museum. Prices were very reasonable and even for a kids size come, it was plentiful. And theres a little surprise at the bottom of every cone. Definitely recommend if you're in the area.

If you plan on visiting Elkhart Lake any time soon I recommend stopping here! It is a splendid place to stop and grab a quick treat.

Love this place! Has a very antique feel, friendly staff, and tons of sugar options! Candy, flavored soda, icecream, fudge! Prices are reasonable for an ice cream shop. The fudge is delicious, and they always have new ones to try. Right downtown on the main drag. Family friendly.

A great place to have a wonderful sweet treat! A charming, quaint old fashioned ice cream shop in the heart of historic Elkhart Lake. Good selection of ice cream flavors, fudge in a variety of flavors. Numerous chocolate candies all freshly made at the store. Great service, and a very friendly staff.Well worth stopping in!!!

It was good service, a little museum in the back, definitely not a local hangout. Good for tourists who have savings bonds and 401K's, if you do happen to wash up here, as most of us do from time to time, don't worry. You'll be fine.

Fun little ice cream shop for a quick dessert stop! Great tourist stop as they have a little room in the back with old ice cream shop collectibles which gives the place a lot of charm. Ice cream is delicious but the service was just okay, we went later in the evening and no one was working the counter upon entering and then we got questioned on the amount of ice cream we were ordering when asked to get a sundae to-go. We may stop back next time we are in town and give the service another try!

It does not get any more retro and nostalgic than this place. It is dripping with history. There was a nothing better than sitting at the old-fashioned fountain eating a sundae. The candy and fudge are great too.

Great little place!

What a cool place! Ice cream and candy in this historic place. There's a picture on the wall of this store from 1927 and it's exactly what you see in front of you. I had a traditional banana split with all the toppings. Worth the trip 🤗🤗🤗🤗

An Elkhart Lake icon. Fair prices for great ice cream. A must stop while you're in town. Also, be sure to look up the Elkhart Lake Chalet on Airbnb if you need a quiet, peaceful place to stay in the woods while in town.

Every year when we come up to Elkhart we come here several times! Our whole family loves coming here and has been for decades.
